I think it is a pretty slick idea to use the frame side extensions to mount a rocker panel protection tube.

I see three negative points though:

A Especially the front mount takes so much room away that you can't use larger tires anymore.
B As well as the outside is protected (green) - the underside is still pretty vulnerable (red). In particular the seam. It should definitely be reinforced
C The fender flares do not fit anymore

Also: It remains to be seen whether the tube is strong enough (since it is quite long) to take the impact of a swaying vehicle without bending.


In my proposal using a tube you are protecting your doors as well as your rocker panel - but you can protect rocker and the rubber molding without a tube.
