common 4x4 questions

random 4x4 driving tip

So, you plan on putting larger wheels on your 4WD

Why would you need more brake force? and
Why would you need more moving force?

Let me start with basic mechanics here.
You have a bar balancing on a pivot point with equal length on both sides and press down one side (primary) with 100 lb - the other side of the bar (secondary) would be able to move 100 lb.

If you would elongate the secondary side to double its original length the force of 100 lb on the primary side would result in only 50 lb at the tip of the secondary side.

Effect larger tires have on stopping force

Effect larger tires have on acceleration and performance (torque)
