Mercedes-Benz Set to Shake up Sport Utility Market Again
V8-Powered M-Class Model Will Outshine Top Premium Segment for under $45,000

Mercedes-Benz will once again up the ante in the sport-utility category when the 1998 V8-powered ML430, the second model in its incredibly successful M-Class line, makes its world debut at the 1998 North American International Autoshow.

Just as the $39,950 Mercedes ML320 shook up the center of the premium SUV market, the V8 ML430 will set new standards for performance, safety, quality and value at the top of the segment. To be priced under $45,000, the high-performance sport-utility vehicle will set new standards for performance, safety, quality, and value at the top of this segment. To be priced under $45,000, the high performance sport-utility vehicle will join the award-winning V6-powered ML320 this fall.

The four-wheel drive Mercedes ML430 will outshine its competition with features that none of them offers, including four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel electronic traction control, a standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and, of course, Mercedes-Benz safety including door-mounted side airbags and quality. Visually, the ML430 will be distinguished from its V6 powered sibling with body-colored bumpers, rocker panels and side moldings and performance-oriented 17-inch alloy wheels with super-large 275/55R-17 M+S rated tires.
