onM-Class 2001 Spring Trip to Death Valley

Tires are the most vulnerable feature on your ML

There are two methods to save your tires:

A. Stay way clear with tire sidewalls from any obstacle.

However, it is sometimes difficult to see the exact position of the tire (especially the right rear) and it definitely helps to have a second person outside the vehicle to direct you.

B. Place the tire's tread area intentionally atop obstacles.

This is the professional's choice.

Especially to get the right tires on an obstacle might require a "spotter" outside the vehicle.

This is the best way to deal with rocks: Drive your tires slowly over them.

The tread area has a steel belt and is best suited to deal with anything sharp.
